Horizon on Mobile Accelerator Program

Meta invites first-time Horizon World builders to propose mobile-only Worlds with snackable game concepts. Selected proposals will receive at least at $65,000 for development and retain full ownership of their projects.

About the Accelerator

Horizon Worlds is an immersive social platform for gaming experiences. Meta is inviting new Horizon World builders, specifically experienced game studios or creators, to propose mobile-only Worlds for the Meta Horizon app. These Worlds should adapt proven mobile game concepts, be designed exclusively for mobile devices, and feature intuitive controls with short, engaging gameplay sessions and free-to-play mechanics. Proposals are welcome from creators with diverse game development expertise, focusing solely on mobile distribution without XR compatibility. Creators retain full ownership of their work and selected proposals will receive at least $65,000 for development.

Designing for Mobile-First

We're open to considering a range of gameplay styles that meet the following criteria:

Short game loops: Design 3-5 minute quick to fun sessions that allow players to make progress and return later. In-game progression: Incorporate engagement systems such as leaderboards & rankings to foster competition. Intuitive UI: Worlds should immediately engage a user. Gameplay should be clear and easy to understand through visual clues and familiar gestures. Drop-in, Drop-out gameplay: Focus on seamless single and multiplayer experiences that enable players to join and leave easily, avoiding lobbies. Non-verbal communication: Socialization through verbal communication may be limited or non-existent on mobile, nonverbal ways for players to interact and communicate should be considered. Straightforward mechanics: Use simple, intuitive game mechanics due to limited controls and screen size.

Desired Genres

For this accelerator, we are primarily focused on the development and exploration of proven mobile game concepts. Some examples of genres and gameplay styles we're interested in include:

Match-3: Players match three or more identical items in a row to clear them. Endless Runner: Players control a character that runs indefinitely, avoiding obstacles. Arcade Shooter: Players shoot enemies or targets in a simple, fast-paced game. Tower Defense: Players build and maintain defenses against incoming enemies. Social Puzzle: Players work together to solve puzzles or complete challenges. Simulation: Players simulate real-life activities, such as farming or managing a business. Side-scroller: Players progress L > R to the end of course with puzzles/blockers that get harder as time progresses. Platformers: Players progress to the end of an obstacle course that ramps with difficulty the farther players get.

All Creators must reside in countries currently supported by Horizon Worlds, please review the list of supported countries here.

June 4th, 2025: Submission window closes at 11:59pm ET. June 6th, 2025: Creators notified of selection. Date of final submission and publishing of the World will be determined after pitch submission but no later than December 2025.

Submissions are non-confidential. Meta does not want to receive any proprietary or confidential information, including trade secrets, as part of your RFP response. By submitting your RFP response, you agree that Meta may evaluate, use and disclose the information, data and materials therein. Selected submissions will be subject to the execution of additional documentation evidencing the specific agreement of the parties. If your submission is not selected, you are free to develop the proposed world concept in Horizon Worlds or any other platform.
