Sign up now for the Crayta workshop series and get inspired to design, build and publish in Crayta.
Crayta is the game and world creation platform that anyone can use. It is a truly collaborative game creation platform built on Unreal Engine 4 - you and your friends can jump in and create games together in the cloud, regardless of your experience.
Play from an endlessly growing library of user-generated multiplayer games across a huge variety of genres.
The Crayta Workshop Series: (need to add description of the two workshops)
This series of workshops will explore creating games in Crayta, focusing on applied game design to build compelling and appealing virtual worlds. Learn the techniques that underpin successful games, and develop a competitive offering for one of our regular competitions like the November $200K Mega Jam*.
Session 1: Introduction To Crayta
Before the session
Half an hour before the session, you will be encouraged to meet on the Discord, head into Crayta and meet in the hub. Crayta has collaboration and multiplayer at it’s heart, so this is a great opportunity to get to know other people in the community.
Play some games, try out link sharing to jump into the same game as others.
Customise your Avatar - earn Crayta XP through challenges in the hub and by playing games to unlock new customisation options.
This session offers an introduction to the tools and techniques you will need to build games in Crayta. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Create a new game
Switch between basic and advanced modes
Test and publish a game
Build a world with voxel tools
Use the asset library to populate the world
Download and use packages
Some participants will be able to:
Edit the world settings
Open the coding IDE
You will do this by:
Explore the hub in Crayta, and understand the menus, Battle Passes and premise of the tool
Participate in an interactive workshop as a group at a beginner level
Have access to the community of creators on our Discord, and their own channel
Undertake “after-session” challenges that lead them through creating a game from start to finish
After the session
Continue to build and polish your virtual environment. Publish and share it to the group, and offer feedback to others. If you get stuck, you can ask questions in the #workshops channel, a dedicated channel for all participants of these workshops and supportive members of the community, or in the #ask-anything channel.
